Automotive Glass

Automotive Safety Tempered Glass

This type of glass, also known as Safety Tempered Glass, is used as side and rear windows in automobiles. After shaping and cutting, the glass undergoes a thermal cycle, where it is heated to a temperature of 600 degrees Celsius and then rapidly cooled. This process increases the strength of the glass by up to five times. Additionally, due to the surface tension created by the rapid cooling, when this type of glass breaks, it shatters into very small pieces without sharp edges, significantly reducing the risk of injury to passengers, though not entirely.

Any cutting or shaping operations after the tempering process will lead to the breaking of this type of glass, and all operations must be performed beforehand.

Automotive Glass

Automotive Laminated Glass

This type of glass uses an interlayer called PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) which is sandwiched between two layers of glass. The PVB layer holds the glass in place during breakage and prevents the shards from scattering, which could cause injuries to passengers. Additionally, due to its elastic properties, it also prevents passengers from being ejected from the vehicle during accidents.

One of the unique features of laminated glass is its reparability. In the case of minor cracks, only the glass layer on the exterior side of the PVB is affected, while the interior side remains intact. These cracks can be repaired satisfactorily within a few days after the incident. Due to these properties, laminated glass is primarily used as windshields in the automotive industry. However, in recent years, its use as side and rear windows in some vehicles has also become more common.
